Spring skiing at its best at Mont Orford
The rising temperatures of the last few days have provoked the early arrival of a divine portion of the ski and snowboard season: spring skiing. Sun, corn snow moguls, long lunches on the terrace with friends, and lighter clothing...pure happiness! Snow conditions at Mont Orford are excellent due to the hard work of our mountain teams. Note that from now until the end of the season, trails which are not groomed will be opened gradually in order to give the sun time to work its magic and soften the surfaces which froze during the night. Mont Giroux East and its ticket booth will be open on weekends only starting March 22nd. As for Mont Alfred-Desrochers, which is covered with only natural snow, it lost a good part of its white coat and is now closed. Don't forget that the pre-selling of our season passes has begun. Take advantage of the appreciable discounts.
First tracks, see you next year
The early opening of Mont Orford on Sundays for First tracks is over for the season. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until next year to once again enjoy the privilege of rushing down the mountain's slopes as if they were your own. However, breakfasts will continue to be served at the Slalom Pub as of 7:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. As for Bistro Orford, it will open as of 7:00 a.m. on March 20th and 21st to accommodate, among others, parents of the Mont Orford Ski Club who will be preparing the organization and presentation of two important races which will be held at Mont Orford throughout the weekend.
What we have prepared for you to celebrate the start of spring skiing
Friday, March 19th, 2010: The Monster Energy Drink Team is stopping at the Mont Orford ski centre. They will be offering free samples of their products. Weather permitting, the McTrio group will perform on the terrace of the Slalom Pub between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Saturday, March 20th, 2010: CHOM and Élan will be taking Mont Orford by storm. Listen to CHOM throughout the day and you could win free lift tickets to join CHOM on the slopes. Plus, ski demos will be offered by Élan for the entire family, even the smallest members. You could also win numerous prizes such as brand new Élan skis.
Furthermore, the combined season final for 13-14 year old members of ski clubs will take place in the Jean D'Avignon run. Come encourage tomorrow's athletes. The McTrio band will repeat its performance on the Slalom Pub's terrace from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. if Mother Nature agrees. Do not miss the afternoon trampoline performance of the Équipe élite du Cirque des étoiles in collaboration with Lloyd Langlois. It will be presented near the terrace. After several years of absence, our national Lloyd has returned to us. This season, he directed our very appreciated team of ambassadors with a master's hand.
Sunday, March 21st, 2010: This time it's the combined final for the 11-12 year old members of ski clubs which will take place on the Jean D'Avignon run. The McTrio band will be responsible for musical entertainment on the Slalom Pub's terrace (weather permitting).
Gestion Soroma's big boss has distinguished himself
Vincent Renaud, president of Gestion Soroma (Mont Orford) Inc. which manages the Mont Orford ski centre, took home almost all honors during the BMW Masters Ski Series presented at Mont Orford on March 6th and 7th. On Saturday, he won first place in the 40-59 year old category and second overall. Mr. Renaud did even better in Sunday's giant slalom race since he took home the General's gold medal in the 40-59 year old category. Congratulations Mr. Renaud!
Ski Vélo Vincent Renaud is expanding
Our other Vincent Renaud, the one form Ski Vélo Vincent Renaud, has purchased the Fresch ski shop in Bromont. This is the businessman's third shop. He also owns the Magog shop and the one you know very well, located at the bottom of Mont Orford.
Illegal sale of corporate tickets
Mont Orford ski centre management wishes to remind everyone that corporate tickets cannot be sold or converted to cash by holders.
Successful Gilles-Niquette race
The Gilles-Niquette race which was held on March 14th at Mont Orford raised $3000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Mont Orford Snow School Foundation. Congratulations and thank you to all participants!
Hoping to see you on the slopes!
